Is it possible to control a self-built big RC plane using radio controlled remote?: radio controlled plane

me and my friend are thinking of making a homemade RC plane…which is not really a RC plane but bigger…so is it possible to control its flight using radio controlled remote or something like that? suggestions will be greatly appreciated…
